Did you know that vinegar is amazing at many things? I knew this, but I always forget about the cleaning power of vinegar!
I checked it out again though because I line dried my baby's diapers the other day, and the liners, which are made out of hemp became so stiff and rough, not nearly as soft as when I take them out of the drier. Never use fabric softener on your cloth diapers because they coat your clothes with an oil base and then your diapers will not absorb, they will repel. Not to mention the chemicals and fragrance against your baby's sensitive skin.
So... I looked up what I can use as a natural fabric softener, and you can use vinegar! Just 1/2 a cup in your washer's fabric softener dispenser does the trick! I have to wash diapers either today or tomorrow so I'm going to try it out and then line dry again, and I'll let you know how it turns out!
You can do a google search for household uses for vinegar... the list is long! Amazing!
